Bio

ZOTEYE (he/she/they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist born in Ghent, Belgium and now based in Brussels. Inspired by a childhood immersed in weekly visits to the video rental store with their parents, and encouraged to wield a camera from the age of 10, ZOTEYE's journey into the realm of visual arts was destined. After honing their craft and obtaining a BA in Visual Arts, they navigated the worlds of marketing and branding before focusing solely on bespoke photography and film projects.

ZOTEYE believes strongly in identifying beyond binaries and sees the intersection of the NFT art space with more traditional artforms like analog photography as a compelling frontier. ZOTEYE's art is a testament to their deep connection with humanity and questions the borders of everything, from countries to gender. Their work transcends mere imagery and encapsulates fleeting moments, typically delving into the realm of energy and emotions. Through the combination of analog cameras and carefully selected film, every frame becomes a unique and irreproducible testament to the ever-changing energy of life itself.

As they continue to evolve as an artist, ZOTEYE's work serves as a bridge between where we’ve been and where we’re going, inviting the viewer to embark on a journey of self-discovery (past), introspection (present) and, most importantly, possibility (future).

Fun facts

ZOTEYE’s name is a blend of Dutch and English, literally translating to “Crazy Eye”. It represents their determination to see themselves and the world through a nonconforming and always-curious lens, questioning preconceptions and the boxes we so quickly put things into. The name was inspired by their genetic lazy right eye, a feature ZOTEYE ultimately learned to embrace for daring to have a mind and life of its own since day 1.
